Obituary

Eleanor Jane Podolski (Corp) of Dedham, MA, passed away after 98 years full of love, life and happiness on February 12, 2024. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 60 years, former Chief Judge Alfred L. Podolski. She is survived by her children, Lawrence A. Podolski of Dedham, Jane M. Podolski of Dedham, Michael A. Podolski (and his wife Anne) of Dedham and Ann L. Palmer of Watertown. She is also survived by her grandchildren who adored their “Nana”, Maureen Podolski-Palasek (Brian) of Billerica, Matthew A. Podolski of Medfield, Kevin M. Podolski (Jacqueline) of Hanson, Kathryn St. Marie (John) of Holden, Beth McKenna-Moore (Nick) of Scituate and Jill Palmer of New York. She was the proud great grandmother of eight great grandchildren, Sadie and Hunter Palasek, Gianna and Roland St. Marie, Ellie Sue and Calvin Moore and Ethan and Nora Podolski.

Eleanor was born in Norwood, the daughter of the late Amy (Davie) and Henry Corp and the sister of the late Richard Corp. She lived as a young child in Barrington, RI but returned to Dedham as an adolescent. She was a very proud graduate of Dedham High School, Class of 1942. During WW II, Eleanor worked at the Watertown Arsenal. She married her high school sweetheart, Alfred, on Easter Sunday, in 1947 and raised their children in Dedham. Upon Alfred’s retirement, Eleanor and Alfred spent many happy years at their retirement home in Crystal River, FL.

Eleanor was a member of Norfolk Golf Club of Westwood and Past President of the Norfolk Woman's Golf Association. She was a Past President of the Dedham Catholic Woman’s Club and the Woman’s Republican Club of Dedham. Eleanor also served two years on the Finance Committee for the Town of Dedham. She was a Past President of the Garden Club of Crystal River, FL, President of Crystal Paradise Estates Civic Association in Crystal River and a longtime member of Seven Rivers Golf Club, Crystal River, FL.

Eleanor was a devout Catholic and faithful communicant at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Dedham and St. Benedict’s Parish in Crystal River, FL. When she became unable to attend mass in person, she became a daily viewer of the Holy Mass and the Rosary on EWTN and received communion at home.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Friday, Feb. 16 from 4-7pm. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 8am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Dedham at 9am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 420 High Street, Dedham, MA 02026.
