Alfred Soares, 77, of Fall River passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Pauline L. (Gagnon) Soares.
Mr. Soares was born in Fall River, son of the late Alfred and Georgianna (Mareira) Soares and had been a lifelong resident of the city. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country in the U.S. Army. Prior to retirement, he worked as an assembler for General Motors. He was an avid New England sports fan and a member of the Fall River Elks Club #118. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 207, Westport and a lifetime member of the V.F.W Ouellette Post #8502, Westport.
Survivors along with his wife include his son: Andrew Soares of NH; his daughter: Alison Lervey of CT; 4 step-sons: Jeffrey Souza and his wife Julie of VA, Brian Souza of Westport, William "Billy" Souza and his wife Karen of Westport and Gerald Souza of AL; his step-daughter: Jennifer Bresnen and her husband Cory of IL; sister; Kathleen Frizado of Fall River; along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River at 11:00 A.M.
Memorial visitation will be Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home from 5-7 P.M.
