Obituary

Daniel “Dan” T. Driscoll, Jr, 58, beloved husband of 31 years to Trisha (Swanson) Driscoll and loving father to his two sons, Alexander (24) and Luke (18) of Whitman, Massachusetts died February 9th at home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 18, 1965, Dan was the son of the late Daniel T. and Marguerite (Coleman) Driscoll.

Dan graduated from Don Bosco Technical High School from the electrical program. After briefly attending the University of Massachusetts, he went on to own and operate his successful electrical contracting business for over 35 years. Dan was extremely proud of the electrical business he built and took great pride in his work. He was also recently appointed Assistant Electrical Inspector for the town of Whitman.

Dan devoted countless hours to coaching youth sports in Whitman and beyond, through Whitman Youth Football, Whitman Baseball and Softball Association (WBSA), and Hitmen Baseball Club. He was past President of WBSA and served proudly on the boards of Whitman Youth Football and WBSA.

Dan was a former champion powerlifter with Big Iron Powerlifting, breaking numerous records along the way. He was also a proud member of the ClubEx family, where he spent many early mornings working out and making lifelong friends. Dan was a diehard Boston Sports fan, especially enjoying Sundays watching the Patriots.

Dan was most proud of his family, especially his two boys as well as the relationships he built with extended family and friends. He was extremely generous with his time and his love. If you met Dan once you were a friend for life and he would always be there for a friend in need.

Dan grew up in Dorchester, Massachusetts and briefly lived in Abington, Massachusetts before building his forever home in Whitman, Massachusetts.

Dan is predeceased by his sister-in-law Sharon Swanson and his nephew Nicholas McWilliams.

Dan is also survived by his loving sisters and their husbands, Brenda and Charles Robinson of Billerica and Deborah and Steve Callahan of Braintree. Adored brother-in-law of Joel Swanson, Cheryl and Dave Blanchard, Karen and Frank McWilliams, John and Julie Swanson, and Mike and Lisa Swanson. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends too numerous to count.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, February 17th at 10:15 AM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at the Holy Ghost Church, 518 Washington Street, Whitman. Burial to follow in Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours Friday, February 16th from 4:00-7:00 PM at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary), Whitman.
