Obituary

Susan S. (Start) Barry, born November 11, 1940, in Salem, Massachusetts to the late Cedric and Margaret (Hill) Start passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was the loving and devoted wife of the late Richard S. Barry.

Susan was kind, compassionate and inspirational devoting her life in service to others, always ready, willing, and able to assist her family and friends. She grew up in Hollywood, Florida and spent her summers with her family in Isle La Motte, Vermont. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, sewing, and traveling with her family and friends. Susan loved everything that New England had to offer especially the Boston Symphony, the New Hampshire and Maine coast lines, the fall foliage and Lobster Rolls. She was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. Susan had a deep faith and was an active member of the Chapel at Brooksby Village serving in the Caring Bridges Ministry and on the Missions Committee.

Susan is survived by her children Robert and his wife Eileen Barry of New Jersey and Cynthia and her husband Paul Corbett of Michigan; her sister Nancy and her husband Frank Bell Jr. of North Carolina; brother-in-law; Allen G. Barry, Jr. of Florida, as well as her grandchildren, Kristine and Ryan Barry and Caitlin and Andrew and his wife Isabelle Corbett. Susan also leaves behind a loving extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. Susan had a special place in her heart for family and friends and will be dearly missed. She was also the loving mother of the late Elizabeth Anne Barry and sister-in-law of the late John H. Barry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the American Heart Association heart.org or the Arthritis Foundation arthritis.org. Interment will be held in Troy, New York, at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home of Andover.
