Obituary

Lorna J. Bardon, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on February 8, 2024.

Daughter of the late Walter B. and Helen T. (Jones) Grant, she was born October 19, 1930 in Boston.

She was the beloved wife of the late Walter Ray Bardon, to whom she was married for almost 40 years. Lorna and Ray loved to travel and had many fun filled adventures.

She also loved camping and spending time with extended family each summer in Vermont at her favorite camp ground, Meadowbrook Farm. Sister’s weekend was something she looked forward to each year. Lorna loved to read, swim, do jigsaw puzzles, and watch Wheel of Fortune. Milky Way Bars and “no fights” were a request on her birthdays.

Lorna is survived by her daughters Bonnie Devine (David deceased) of Hanson, Kathy Bowen (Dwayne) of Milton, NH, Lynne Freedman (Bruce) of Randolph, and Claire Peltier of Canton; and her sons Bruce Bardon (Barbara) of Sandwich and Brian Bardon of Weymouth. Lorna is survived by her sister Barbara Hill (Frank deceased) of Maynard and her brother-in-law Gary Bardon (Juanita deceased) of Pembroke. She is also survived by her son-in-law Tom McDonald of Hanover. Lorna was a former mother-in-law of Teresa Bardon and John Peltier. Lorna is survived by 18 grandchildren; Erin Devine Roberts (Matt), Timothy Devine (Beth), Elizabeth Devine Shapiro (Dan), Michael Devine (Ashley) Angela Labelle (Corey), Geoffrey Bardon, Nicole Demairais, Aaron Freedman, Chip McDonald (Kate), Katelyn McDonald, Eric McDonald, Jae Peltier, Drew Peltier, Kristen Howard (Jonathan), Sarah Shaw (Spencer) Benjamin Bardon, Abby Bardon, and Walter Bardon, and 17 great grandchildren; Mila and Remy Roberts, Bennett, Cameron, and Zachary Devine, Lily and Owen LaBelle, Ryleigh Ackerman and Lucas Demarais, Marygrace, Thomas Jack, Hannah, Caleb, and Mark McDonald, and Samuel and Ezra Shaw. Lorna is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Janet McDonald, sister Elinor Curley, brothers Walter Grant (Mary deceased) and James Grant (Carol deceased).

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday February 13th, from 4:00-7:00 PM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A funeral service will be held Wednesday February 14th at 10:00 AM in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
