Gayle Fay Dowler, 42 of Hull passed away Friday, April 2, 2004, at her residence. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 5, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Fred Rowell officiating. Miss Dowler was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Bill Moore, Tommy Cottle, Patrick Rowell, Joshua Boyd, Rich Newton and Winfred Vickers served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the "Tom Boys" Girl Softball Teams from 1975-1981 and the faculty and staff of Social Circle Middle School in Social Circle.
Born September 11, 1961, in Whiteville, North Carolina, Miss Dowler was the daughter of Clyde C. Dowler and Helen Sowmer Dowler of Tifton. She was a graduate of Tift County High School and the University of Georgia. She received her Masters Degree from Piedmont College; and she was of the Baptist faith. She taught school in Social Circle; and had been living in the Athens area for 18 years.
In addition to her parents, Miss Dowler is survived by three sisters and two brothers-in-law Carol Dowler of Valdosta; Linda and Rod Heyerdahl of Chula and Debra and Allen Boyd of Tifton; one nephew, Josh Boyd of Tifton; and one niece, Suzanne Boyd of Tifton.
