TEWKSBURY - Dennis R. Serena, age 55, a resident of Tewksbury for the last decade, died
peacefully on Friday evening, July 7, at his Tewksbury home, surrounded by his family. He had
courageously battled cancer for more than a year. He was the husband of Jacqueline A. “Jackie”
(McKenzie) Serena, with whom he would have celebrated a 24th wedding anniversary on October
22nd.
He was born in Cambridge, January 27, 1951, the son of Laura ( Romagna) Serena of Malden,
and the late William Serena. He was raised in Cambridge, but moved to Tewksbury 10 years ago.
He attended ITT technical school in Boston, where he earned a degree in commercial
refrigeration. He was employed by Pepsi as a technician, based in Allston and later Wilmington.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by two children, Thomas Serena and Krista Serena
both of Tewksbury; a mother-in-law, Mary (Rossi) McKenzie of Medford; his sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law, Sandra and John DeMilin of Brockton, Theresa and Andrew DeRusso of
Somerville, Albert and Robbin McKenzie and Judith Southward all of Medford, many aunts,
uncles and cousins.
His funeral service was held Wednesday, July 12, in the funeral home. Following cremation,
interment will be private. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen
St., Framingham, MA 01701 will be appreciated.
