Obituary

CHICOPEE – Frederick L. “Fred” Wilson, 71, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, February 5, 2024. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at the USAF Hospital at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee on April 4, 1952, a beloved son of the late Albert R. and Evelyn M. (Balboni) Wilson. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School, attended Holyoke Community College where he was active in the Drama Program, and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Sergeant. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a Mail Processor at the Bulk Mail Center on Fiberloid Street in Indian Orchard. He leaves his seven loving siblings, John R. Wilson of Chicopee, George T. Wilson and his wife, Judy, of South Hadley, Bonnie M. Klement of Georgia, Nancy J. McCarthy and her husband, Pete, of Parlin, NJ, Kenneth A. Wilson and his wife, Sheryl, of St. Charles, MO, Tina M. Hamel and her husband, Roger, of Chicopee, and Robert R. Wilson and his wife, Debbie, of Batavia, NY; his best friend of over 40 years, Michael Tenerowicz of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends.
