Carroll Spence Davis, 60, of Dawson passed away Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Kindred Hospital in Atlanta. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday April 4, 2004, at Dawson United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Sapp officiating. Mr. Davis was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating.
Born August 1, 1943, in Cook County, Mr. Davis was the son of the late John Slaton Davis and Eula Arrington Davis. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jo Rentz Davis. he graduated from Cook County High School, Abraham Baldwin College and Georgia Southwestern College with a B.S. degree in business.
Mr. Davis was a retired president of the Federal Land Bank and had worked in Dawson, Americus and Albany during the years of 1975 through 1990. he was a member of the Dawson Rotary Club and had served as program chairman. He was a very active member of the Dawson United Methodist Church, the Berean Sunday School Class and had served on various committees over the years.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Patricia Horne Davis of Dawson; one son, Britt J. Davis of Dawson; one daughter, Joanna S. Davis of Leesburg; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Joyce Davis of Thomasville; one sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Terry Smith of Carrollton; two step-daughters and their husbands, Jill and Garland Booth of Tifton and Joyce and Tony Waller of Port Elizabeth, South Africa; and six step-grandchildren, Colby Booth, Brady Booth and Bailey Booth, all of Tifton and Sara Beth Waller, Alex Waller and Ashley Waller, all of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
