Obituary

BELCHERTOWN – Alice Ruth (Davis) Goyette, 83, of Belchertown and a longtime resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, February 5, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center with her son, Rick, and her daughter, Carol, by her side. She was born in Blytheville, Arkansas on August 13, 1940, a beloved daughter of the late Marvin G. and Mary E. (Bennett) Davis. She lived in California for 16 years but fell in love with New England during her first visit in 1969. She realized that she wanted to live out the rest of her life here and raise her children so that they would have solid roots in their lives that she was never fortunate enough to have. She retired as the Office Manager for R & R Window Contractors in Easthampton and was previously the Word Processing Manager for the Agway Eastern Division Office. She was a Notary Public and a Justice of the Peace for many years. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee where she served her parish for many years as the Chairperson for the Family Life Commission. She will be eternally grateful to her dear friend, Barbara Orwat from her parish, who visited her frequently and brought her Holy Communion. When Alice became disabled, she became a faithful viewer of the Chalice of Salvation. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends at Christopher Heights in Belchertown. She leaves her two loving children, Richard R. Goyette and his wife, Joanna Giordano, of Ware, and Carol R. Lewis and her husband, James, of South Hadley; her five cherished grandchildren, Thomas Goyette, Timothy Goyette, Lauren Copeland, Cecelia Lewis and Zachary Lewis; her dear sister, Oma Lee Culham of Florida; her dear sister in law, Tracie Davis of Arizona; her lifelong friend, Sandy Manley of California; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her three dear brothers, John Woods, Allen Davis, and David Davis; her two dear sisters, Helen Brown and her husband, Billy, and Shirley Lindley and her husband, Frank; and her dear friend of many years, Lillian Beaudoin. Her Funeral will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 11, 2024 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
