Obituary

Mavis Gilley Cameron, 65, of Ty Ty passed away Saturday, September 11, 2004, at her residence surrounded by her beloved family. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at Carpenter Road Church of God in Tifton with the Rev. Ronnie Luke officiating. Mrs. Cameron was laid to rest at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery.

Steven Scarborough, Adam Hale, Justin Parks, Kevin Cameron, Daniel Raburn and Tim Spradlin served as pallbearers.

Born September 29, 1938, in Albany, Mrs. Cameron was the daughter of the late Ted Gilley and Alice Clark Gilley. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Gilley. She was a former employee of Union Camp; and she was a member Ty Ty First Baptist Church. She had lived in Ty Ty for 21 years.

Mrs. Cameron is survived by her husband of 40 years, Floyd Cameron of Ty Ty; one son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Ann Cameron of Carrolton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Faye and Calvin Hale and Kaye and Danny Parks, all of Brookfield and Brenda Scarborough of Ty Ty; two brothers, Truman Gilley of Albany and Buddy Gilley of Leesburg; six sisters, Frances Lewis, Vernell Simmons, Annette Gilley and Jeanette Gilley, all of Leesburg, Jean Nichols of Sasser and Maybelle McPherson of Dawson; eight grandchildren, Steven Scarborough, Adam Hale, Laura Hale, Justin Parks, Kevin Cameron, Sissy Cameron and Daniel Raburn; and two great-grandchildren, Maggie Scarborough and Mason Dixon.
