Jerry Douglas Barnes, Sr., 57, of Tifton passed away Monday, July 5, 2004, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Cory Colravy officiating. Mr. Barnes was laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery.
Tony Barnes, Ronni Barnes, ken Barnes, Bill Barnes, Harvey Barnes and Josh Moore served as pallbearers.
Born May 28, 1947, in Ty Ty, Mr. Barnes was the son of Eunice Davis Pettett of Tifton and the late Harvey Ray Barnes. Before retiring, he worked as a computer analyst; and he was a member of New Life Presbyterian Church in Tifton. He was also a Mason.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Barnes is survived by his step-father, Luther Pettett of Tifton; one son, Jerry Douglas "Doug" Barnes, Jr. of Tifton; one daughter, Jennifer Barnes of Tifton; four brothers, Jimmy Cleveland Barnes of California, Charles Calhoun Barnes of Pensacola, Florida; and Louie Vernon Barnes and Ennie Ray Barnes, both of Brookfield; one sister, Jody Pettett of Brookfield; and thre grandchildren, katy Robertson, Chelsea Robertson and Cheyanne Robertson.
