Robert S. Brannen, Sr., 90, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2004, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Edwin Dillard, the Rev. John S. Gibbs Sr. and the Rev. Ronny Vice officiating. Mr. Brannin was laid to rest at Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Enigma.
B. J. Brannen, John Brannen, Adam Brannen, Jamie Vickers, Kye Eaton and Dan Rakestraw served as pallbearers.
Born December 25, 1913, in Fort Myers, Florida, Mr. Brannen was the son of the late Clarence S. Brannen and Maggie Coke Brannen. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dalton F. Brannen and Buck W. Brannen. He was a farmer and a truck driver; and he retired from Tifton Aluminum Company. He was an avid outdoorsman; enjoyed hunting and fishing; and working in his garden. He was of the Baptist faith; and he was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II.
Mr. Brannen is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bishop Brannen of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. "Bobby" and Peggy Brannen, Billy F. and JoAnn Brannen and Jerry P. and Nancy Brannen, all of Tifton; two sisters, Mary Luke of Pooler and Willie Mae Laminack of Omega; six grandchildren and their spouses, Melissa and Jamie Vickers, B. J. Brannen and his fiance', Melissa Frazier, Leigh Ann Branne, John and Dawn Brannen, Adam Brannen and Cari Brannen; and one great-granddaughter, Kate Vickers.
