Obituary

CHICOPEE – Ronald P. “Ron” St. Germain, 62, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at home. He was born in Holyoke on May 12, 1961, the beloved son of the late Leonard W. and Gladys (Swiercz) St. Germain. He was raised and educated in Chicopee and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was employed as a Finish Carpenter for Westek Architectural Woodworking in Westfield. Previously, he had worked at the Doane & Williams Company in Chicopee and spent many years there mastering his craft until the company closed. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church and a member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus, both in Chicopee and an avid member of the Easthampton Rod & Gun Club in Easthampton. During his leisure time, Ron loved fishing leisurely and in fishing derbies throughout the area. He also loved camping and snowmobiling with friends at his lakefront property on Greenwood Lake in Woodbury, Vermont. If he was not fishing, you could find him cheering on his beloved Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins and New England Patriots with a house full of friends hoping for a victory often surrounding the fire pit. Ron is survived by his cousins, Anne Lee Jubinville of South Hadley, Mark St. Germain and his wife, Dorothy, of Westfield, Denise Turgeon and her husband, Ralph of Florida, Diane Archambault of Virginia, Donna Archambault of Chicopee, Wayne R. Taylor of Brookfield and Craig Taylor and his wife, Yolanda of Nantucket. He also leaves many special friends that will miss him dearly. His Funeral will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to his Mass. The funeral home parking lot in located in the rear. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund, 1599 Memorial Drive, Chicopee, MA 01020 or the Easthampton Rod and Gun Club, 23 River Street, Easthampton, MA 01027.
