Obituary


Ezara Catherine (Bento) Abreu James, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully, January 26, 2024, at the age of 99. She was the beloved wife of the late Jake Abreu and Bill James. Born in Woburn, she was the oldest child of the late John and Louise (Ramos) Bento.

Ezara was raised with her siblings in the Mt. Misery section of Woburn. She later settled on Willow Street where she has resided for over seventy years. Ezara lived a full and happy life. She cherished her family and was a "A1" mom to her children and grandchildren. Her home had an open-door policy and was always a warm and welcoming place for family and friends to gather. She was a tremendous cook and was happiest when surrounded by family and helping to care for her grandchildren. She will fondly be remembered for her vibrant and outgoing personality and her true optimistic outlook on life. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her late husbands, Jake and Bill; Ezara is sadly predeceased by her son, Chuckie Abreu, and her sisters, Alice Castro, Cecelia Layman, and Marie Harris.

She is survived by her devoted daughters; Linda Sapienza and her husband Doug of Stow, and Patty Langell and her husband Don of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Jason Sapienza and his wife Bobbie, Lauren Tryonis and her husband Tony, Jonathan Sapienza and Devon Langell. Loving great grandmother of Jaxson and Tessa Tryonis. She is further survived and loved by her stepchildren; Billy, Patty, Barbara, Nancy and their families as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, February 2nd, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Ezara's memory to the Woburn Friends of Hospice, VNA Care Fund Development Office, 100 Trade Center, Suite G-500, Woburn, MA 01801-1872.
