Middleboro – Martha L. (Howe) Wales, 86, of Acushnet died after a long illness on June 29, 2006 at Oak Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Wales was born in Acushnet where she resided most of her life and was daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Elizabeth G. (Johnson) Howe. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, New Bedford. She was employed for 24 years as a first grade teacher at the John Hannigan School in New Bedford until her retirement in 1982. She was very active in the United Methodist Women’s Group and was a Coastline Elderly Services Companion for many years prior to her illness.
Survivors include a daughter: Martha L. Doxford of Loxley, AL; 2 sons: Joel R. Wales of Acushnet and Dana L. Wales of Taylors, SC; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
She was sister of the late Margaret Place, Anna G. Place, Sally Fichtenmayer, Stephen J. Howe and Arthur L. Howe, Sr.
