Obituary

Mr. Joseph Phillip Raymond Berube, 89, of Methuen, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. The son of the late Phillippe and Mary (Turgeon) Berube, he was born in Lawrence and had been an area resident all his life. He also spent many happy years in Barefoot Bay, Florida with his wife. Mr. Berube served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and achieved the rank of Corporal. He was the proprietor of Merrimack Gas Mart and P.J.’s Pub. He also worked several years at Wang Labs and Mary Immaculate Nursing Home. Mr. Berube was a member of the former Sacred Heart Parish, a life member of both the Knights of Columbus Council 67 and the Elks Lodge BPOE 65. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 219 in North Andover and the Barefoot Bay Golf and Country Club. Mr. Berube loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed baking. He especially loved sharing his breads and Nana’s Cookies with everyone. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Dolores M. (Thibodeau) Berube of Methuen, three daughters: Linda and her husband Mark Langlais of Plaistow, NH, Tina and her husband Kevin Zahn of Methuen, Robyn and her husband Kevin Bartose of Danville, NH. Three sons: Michael Berube and his wife Joanne of Lawrence, Thomas Berube and his wife Deborah of Lawrence, Philip Berube of Londonderry, NH. He had one sister: Jacqueline and her husband Philip Lescarbeau of Florida and one brother Richard Berube and his wife Claire of Bridgeton, ME. He was predeceased by his brother Albert and his wife Jacqueline. Mr. Berube has 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Edgar J. Racicot Inc. Funeral Home, 1400 Broadway Rd., Dracut. A funeral service will be held on Monday January 29, 2024, at 10:00 am at the Racicot Funeral Home, burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
