Obituary

CHICOPEE – Myra M. (Courchane) Kenneson, 91, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Rocky Boy Hill, Montana on February 2, 1932, a beloved daughter of the late James and Emma (Sangrey) Courchane. She was raised and educated in Montana and moved to Chicopee in 1965 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a longtime supervisor at the Commissary at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee. Myra was proud of her Chippewa Cree Native American heritage. She enjoyed her time at the casinos but most especially loved spending time with her family and many friends. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Vinal W. Kenneson, Jr. They were married on December 27, 1950 and were blessed with over 73 years of happiness. She also leaves her six loving and devoted children, Rodney J. Kenneson and his wife, Gayle, of South Hadley, Robert M. Kenneson and his wife, Donna, of Belchertown, Cheryl A. LeMay and her husband, Robert, Jeanne L. Riley and her husband, Kevin, and Tina L. Riley and her husband, Michael, all of Chicopee, and Paula M. Moson and her husband, Raymond, of Belchertown; her 13 cherished grandchildren; her 21 cherished great grandchildren; her dear sister in law, Ella Arseneau and her husband, Rudy, of Connecticut; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her seven dear siblings, Bud, Ted, Ernest, Matthew, Lena, Joyce and Dorothy. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a followed bya Prayer Service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear. Her Committal Service will follow the Prayer Service at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
