Obituary

BROCKTON - Esther (Cameron) Wasney, 90, of Brockton died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at her home. She was the wife of the late Charles Wasney.

Born May 11, 1916, in Whitman, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Olive (Louzon) Cameron.

A lifelong resident of Brockton, Mrs. Wasney was a graduate of Brockton High School, where she was a star on the basketball team.

She was the owner of Durand’s Chocolate Shop in Brockton and had also worked at Stuart’s department store in Brockton for many years.

Mrs. Wasney was on the Republican Committee and enjoyed traveling, gardening, visiting Cape Cod and spending time with her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Voci and her husband Richard of East Bridgewater; her son-in-law, Alfred Poudrier; two sisters, Phyllis Lalley of Brockton and Helen Britton of West Bridgewater; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Roberta Poudrier and grandmother of the late David Poudrier.

Her funeral will be held from the Wales-Prophett Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater, Wednesday at 9:15 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, East Bridgewater, at 10 am. Burial will be in Central Cemetery.

Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
