East Bridgewater- Richard Sheehan, a 42 year resident of E. Bridgewater, died at his home on July 2, 2006, after a long illness. He was 66.
Born & raised in Brockton, he was a 1957 graduate of Brockton High School, where he played on the football team.
Mr. Sheehan served with the U.S. Army Reserves.
He worked as a highway surveyor for the town of East Bridgewater, where he was elected to 2 terms.
Mr. Sheehan was also the Highway Superintendent for the town of Marshfield.
He last worked as a Regional Sales Manager for Garrity Asphalt, Inc., for the last 12 years.
Mr. Sheehan was active in Horse Pulling with Ed Kennelly in East Bridgewater, as well as 4H, and he was a dorm father at the Marshfield fair for many years.
He was a coach in East Bridgewater Little League and was a member of the Plymouth County Highway Assoc.
Mr. Sheehan was also a friend of Bill’s for almost 26 years.
He was the beloved husband of Mary (Russell) Sheehan; loving father of David J. Sheehan & Catherine Pierce, both of East Bridgewater, & Jennifer Mason of Halifax; cherished grandfather of Ryan, Matthew, Sean, Sara, Lea & Tyler; brother of David Sheehan of Grand Prarie, TX, Jeremy Goshorn of Leesburg, VA., & the late Ralph Sheehan & Noreen Spies. Also survived by many nieces & nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Wales-Prophett Funeral home, 35 Spring St. E. Bridgewater, on Friday at 9 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John Church, East Bridgewater, at 10 am. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, E. Bridgewater.
Visiting hours are on Thursday from 4-8 pm.
