Obituary

Charles R. Hynes, 64, of Pepperell, passed away after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on January 16, 2024 at Lowell General Hospital.

Randy, as he was known to those who knew him, was born on January 18, 1959 in Groton, MA. He was a son of the late John Hynes and the late Catherine Mary (Lorden) Hynes, he graduated from North Middlesex Regional High School with the Class of 1977.

Some time after high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country for 2 years as an infantryman before his honorable discharge. A gifted athlete, he excelled in all sports, but in particular basketball and football and especially powerlifting where he was a local champion while living in Shirley. Randy was a fighter, his entire life, he struggled at times but fought as hard as he could with the life he was given.

He is survived by his son, Chad Hynes, his brother John Hynes Jr. of Kenneybunk, ME, his sisters, Elizabeth Mulholland and her husband, Henry, of Tewksbury and Jodi Gladstone of Highland Beach, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral services will be held at a later date at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA with full military honors.
