Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Dean E. Kos, 61, of the East Forest Park section of Springfield, was Called Home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, after a battle for his life from a tragic accident, surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on June 29, 1962, a beloved son of Elaine G. (Bilodeau) Simmons) of Texas and the late Ronald D. Kos. He was raised in South Hadley, graduated from South Hadley High School, and moved to Springfield in 1992 where he lived the remainder of his life. He was an auto body technician and worked for several shops including the former Four C's Auto Body in East Longmeadow and MAACO in Springfield, as well as many restorations that he accomplished during his free time. He loved watching NASCAR, and enjoyed racing remote control cars and slot cars, and building motorized bicycles. He was a communicant of the Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel in Springfield. Dean was an amazing man who adored his family and most especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Jeanne M. Pellerin-Kos. They were married on August 30, 1997 and were blessed with over 26 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Brett M. Kos of Springfield, Hillary K. Kos of Springfield, and Kyle D. Kos of Pittsfield; his loving step-daughter, Justina R. Pellerin of Springfield; his two cherished grandchildren, Renee and Bentley; his dear sister, Hollie Warren and her husband, John, of Chicopee; his dear father in law and mother in law, Raymond and Margaret (Gibson) Pellerin, of Springfield; his dear brother in law, Raymond Pellerin of West Springfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Kevin Kos. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel, 254 State Street, Springfield, MA 01103. His burial will be private. The St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 is assisting the family with his arrangements. His family requests that memorial donations be made in Dean's memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
