Obituary

Ira L. Cripps, 80, died July 3rd in the Brockton Hospital after a period of failing health, he was the husband of Janice A.(Bowley) Cripps.

Born in Boston, son of the late Frederick and Mildred (Stiles) Cripps. He was brought up in Cambridge and attended Rindge Technical.

Ira served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, he flew in B29s in the 9th bomb group as an aerial gunner in the Pacific Theater.


He worked as a tally man for Grossman’s Lumber Company for 16 years, before retiring in 1988, before that he was employed at Boston Woven Hose .

He loved to play golf at Strawberry Valley, square dancing at Kramer’s in Weymouth and loved animals, especially his dogs.

He is survived by his wife Janice A. (Bowley) Cripps of Whitman ;3 sons Paul Cripps of Weymouth, Daniel Cripps of Lakeville and David Cripps of Las Vegas, NV. ; also five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday July 10th at 10:00 A.M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Visiting hours Sunday July 9th 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Burial will follow at 12:30 P.M. in the MA. V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne MA. Donations may be made in his name to the MSPCA,1300 West Elm Street Ext. Brockton, MA 02301
