James E. Ledlie, Lt. Col. USAF (retired) of Hunter Ridge Drive, North Scituate died July 3rd at his home. He was the husband of Lorraine (Nadeau) Ledlie.
Born in Tacoma, Washington he was the son of the late Edward M. and Margaret (Legacy) Ledlie. He had been a resident of North Scituate since 1987, previously residing in California.
He had served in the US Air Force during WW II on a B-24 Liberator Bomber, flying fifty missions over Europe. He had earned four Air Medals.
After receiving his B.A. at the University of Washington, He returned to the USAF in 1949 and retired as a Lt. Col. in 1968. He was awarded the Soldiers Medal while on duty in Korea. After his USAF retirement, he had worked for McDonnell Douglas Astronautics for 12 years, serving as a Contract Manager for the Gemini Space Program.
Beside his wife, He is survived by three sons, James M. Ledlie of Carson, CA, Arthur B. Ledlie and his wife Shari of Dearborn, MI, and Peter S. Ledlie and his wife Kathy of Copley, OH, his grandchildren, Alisha Bent and her husband Jeffrey, Paul, Jessica, and Christine Ledlie. He was the brother of the late William and Margaret Ledlie.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Smithfield. Interment Private. Vistation Respectfully Omitted.
