Obituary

AUBURN___Peter (Pete) J. Lemanski, 77, of Auburn passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, in his home. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wanda (Witek) Lemanski; his son, Robert Lemanski; his daughter, Grace Nugent and her husband, Thomas; four grandchildren, Valerie Zawalich and her husband, Timothy; Kerri Nugent, Avery Lemanski and Gabrielle Lemanski; his great-grandson, Matthew Zawalich; his sister, Wanda Bielecki and her husband, Stanley; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves step brothers and a step sister. Peter was born in Springfield and grew up in Chicopee, a son of the late John and Anastasia (Strauss) Lemanski. Pete was a graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School. He was a long time resident of Worcester before moving to Auburn in 1986.

Pete worked 39 years for Eversource and held several positions before becoming a supervisor for many years before he retired. He was a hard worker and considered a ‘handyman’ amongst everyone who knew him. After retirement, Pete was a day care driver for individuals with disabilities for Seven Hills Foundation, and recently, was contracted with National Grid training their new recruits. He was honored to have been offered a full time position with them to start next month. Pete was a U.S. Coast Guard combat veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Auburn Elks, various Veterans Associations and was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Worcester. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, working on and driving his cars. Spending time with family was extremely important and a great source of joy to Pete. He loved his family trips to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. He was proud of his four grandchildrens’ accomplishments and was always involved in their achievements whether that be sporting events or graduations. He had a lot of pride in tending to his yard. Pete was a loving husband who above all else cherished and adored his wife, Wanda.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from Henry - Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward Street, Worcester with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street, Worcester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday, January 1, 2024 from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M.
