William Morris Smith, Jr., 65, of Tifton passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service was held for Mr. Smith at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 1`9, 2005, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he was laid to rest. The Rev. Ronnie Luke officiated.
Darrien Smith, Dustin Smith, Kevin Weatherington, John Creasman, John Millard and Albert Hill, Jr. served as pallbearers.
Born September 25, 1939, in Berrien County, Mr. Smith was the son of Bertha Franklin Smith of Tifton and the late William Morris Smith, Sr., who passed away in 1972. He was a textile worker and a machine operator at Tifton Textiles; and he was a four-year veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Peggy Sue Smith of Tifton; three sons and two daughters-n-law, Alan and Denis Smith, Keith and Flossie Smith and Chuck Trupia, all of Tifton' one daughter, Becky Trupia of Tifton; one brother, John Thomas Smith of Tifton; four sisters, Betty Joyce Hill of Brookfield, Roxy Ann Hines and Ruby Diane Smith, both of Tifton and Tina Marie Smith of Savannah; and three grandchildren, Darren Smith, Dustin Smith and Megan Smith, all of Tifton.
