East Bridgewater - John A. Belcher, 94, of East Bridgewater, died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of the late Dora E. (Norcross) Belcher.
Born April 15, 1912, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Charles and Dora (Benoit) Belcher.
A lifelong resident of East Bridgewater, he was educated in East Bridgewater schools.
During World War II, Mr. Belcher was a fire lieutenant at the Hingham Ship Yard.
He was a machinist at Chandler Construction in East Bridgewater for 35 years.
Mr. Belcher was an avid reader and an art enthusiast.
He was the father of Adelbert Belcher of East Bridgewater; brother of Lottie Dolby of California and Everett Belcher of Brockton. Also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A Graveside service will be held in the Central Cemetery, East Bridgewater, Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at 10 am.
