Worcester – Richard E. Wood Sr., 72, of Worcester died peacefully and with his family by his side on Monday June 30, in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness.
His wife Hedwig V. (Dziewietin) Wood died in 1998. Mr. Wood is survived by two sons Richard E. Wood Jr. and Roland E. Wood both of Worcester; three daughters Christine A. Black and Paula A. Bartkiewicz both of Worcester and Susan E. Petterson of Virginia Beach, VA; a sister Shirley Fredette of Worcester; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by a son Bruce Wood who died in 1991.
Mr. Wood was born in Worcester son of Dewey and Elma (Lamoureux) Wood and served in the United States Navy.
He worked as a machinist for Parker Manufacturing Co. and enjoyed deep sea fishing, bowling and riding motorcycles.
The funeral will be held on Monday July 3, from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a mass at 10 AM in St. John’s Church 40 Temple St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
