Rev. Dr. Dwight L. Grubbs
October 6, 1933- November 25, 2023



With both sadness and deep gratitude, we honor the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Dwight L. Grubbs. Dwight went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 25th.

Dwight is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rev. Sylvia Kennedy Grubbs, his two children, Leta Grubbs and Jonathan Grubbs (Mindy), his siblings, Christine Maxwell, George Grubbs (Patty), Maxine McCaw (Larry), Jerry Grubbs (Jan), and Perry Grubbs (Sue), and his granddaughters, Sarah Clark (Austin), Gabrielle Grubbs, Rachel Boyer (Kyle), Hannah Grubbs-Oechsle (Ian) and Charis Grubbs (John Ray), and great granddaughter, Elowyn Clark.

Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Rev. J.C. Grubbs.

Dwight was happiest while surrounded by family and in nature. He was a faithful gardener and had a deep love for spending time in the woods and mountains. Dwight was a cherished professor, pastor, teacher, and counselor. He earned two master’ s degrees from the School of Theology of Anderson College and his doctorate in pastoral care and counseling from Texas Christian University. The wisdom and insight in his book, Beginnings, Spiritual Formation for Leaders, will have a lasting impact for readers seeking to delve deeper into their faith and ministry.

A celebration of life service in honor of Dwight will be held at Park Place Church of God, 510 College Drive, on Thursday, November 30th. The family invites you to the visitation from 12:30pm – 2:00pm, and service beginning at 2:00pm, graveside service will immediately follow at Maplewood Cemetery.

Flowers may be given or memorial contributions to the Anderson School of Theology, Anderson University or Park Place Church of God.
