In Taunton, James T. Januse, age 69 passed away on Thursday, November 23rd 2023 with his loving son by his side at Morton Hospital. Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Theodore and Ann (Dooley) Januse. He was a lifelong resident of Raynham. He was a graduate of Bridgewater Raynham High School class of 1973 and the first Raynham Fire Department graduate of the Massachusetts Fire Academy. He was employed at his family business, T. Januse Trucking, as well as serving on the Raynham Fire Department for 49 years, becoming Chief in 2008 then retiring in 2019. After his retirement from the department, he was employed by T.L. Edwards in Plymouth until retiring due to illness. He was a member of the Bristol County Chief Association, President of the Raynham-Water Bass Fishing Club where he enjoyed tournaments with his lifelong friend Denis Murphy. He enjoyed weekly breakfasts, outings, and meetings with the retired chiefs and his many friends in town. James was the loving father of James W. “Jay” Januse and his wife Katherine “Kate” of Raynham. His former wife Stacey (Longo) Januse of Raynham, His brother Robert Januse and his wife Nancy of Falmouth, Ann Marie Reid and her husband Alan “Cubby” of Falmouth and the late Carol Ann Januse. He was the former son-in-law of Bill Longo of Taunton and former brother in-law of Carol Longo of Taunton. He was also uncle of many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral home 70 Washington Street in Taunton on Friday, December 1st from 4-7 PM. A service will be held on Saturday December 2nd at the First Congregational Church, 785 South Main Street in Raynham at 10 AM. Interment St Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
