LOWELL- Cathleen Elizabeth ‘Kate’ (Clifford) Gorman, 91 of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at her daughter Brenda’s home surrounded by loving family. She was the widow of the late Thomas J. Gorman who passed away in 1999.
She was born on July 3, 1932 in Somerville and was a daughter of the late James Clifford and the late Bridgette (Sheehan) Clifford. Kate grew up in Somerville, attending local schools, culminating in her graduation from Somerville High School.
Following her marriage to Thomas, they relocated to Tewksbury MA to establish their family, and she remained there for many years. In her younger years, she worked for The New England Telephone Co. After staying home to focus on raising her family she worked for the Boston Globe. In her later years she loving cared for her husband until his death.
Possessing a good sense of humor, she relished moments spent with family, friends, and neighbors. Additionally, she found pleasure in engaging with politics.
Kate is survived by her five daughters, Maureen Gorman-Houle of Manchester, NH, Ruth Marie Gorman of Salem, NH, Susan Ann Cotreau of Lowell, MA, Cathleen Gorman of Estero FL, and Brenda Gorman of Lowell, MA, her sister Geraldine Lehman of Medford, MA; 15 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, the late Thomas James Gorman, Jr.; her siblings, the late Maureen Clifford, the late Eileen Shea, and the late James Clifford.
