SHIRLEY A. LYDIC OBITUARY
Shirley A. (Oakes) Lydic, 87, of Commodore, PA died Monday, November 20, 2023 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.
The daughter of Ralph H. and Leona C. (Allenbaugh) Oakes, she was born on May 2, 1936 in Russellton, PA.
She was a 1954 graduate of Montgomery Twp. High School.
Shirley wed Samuel Clark Lydic on December 30, 1954.
She enjoyed traveling, reading and shopping.
While in Niagara Falls, NY, Shirley was employed at Nabisco, was a bookkeeper at Twinfair and an Avon representative, as well as being a Girl Scout Troop Leader.
She was also the bookkeeper for her husband Sam’s business, Lydic Automotive, near Hillsdale, PA.
For over three decades, Shirley was a cook at the nursing home in Hillsdale, PA, now known as Embassy @ Hillsdale Park, where she was proud to have been the oldest employee and the staff member with the most years of employment when she retired in 2016.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Lou Ann Guidash and husband Dan; her grandson, Samuel C. Lute and her close friend, Denise Patrick, all of Commodore, PA; her sister, Dot Gaston of Stephens City, VA and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sam, in 1991.
Honoring Shirley’s request, there will not be visitation or service. Private burial will be at Thompson Cemetery in Hillsdale, PA.
