Obituary

Elizabeth Bivens Arnold Pate, 77, of Morrison, Colorado passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Tift Health Care. A memorial service was held for Mrs. Pate at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Episcopal Church of Saint John and Saint Mark, 2425 Cherry Laurel Lane in Albany. Mrs. Pate was laid to rest at a later date.

Born November 16, 1927, in Vienna, Mrs. Pate was the daughter of the late Stephen Frank Bivens and Claudia Lawson Pate. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Loran Lee Pate; and one son, Keith Arnold. She was co-founder of The Fort restaurant in Morrison, Colorado; and she was instrumental in the concept, design and building of the restaurant in 1962. She was a partner in The Fort from its inception until 1967. Holly Arnold Kenney and Sam Arnold continues to carry on the day-to-day operations of The Fort. In recent years, Mrs. Pate worked as a historical interpreter at the Geogia Agrirama, a living history museum in Tifton.

Mrs. Pate is survived by one daughter, Holly Arnold Kinney; Holly's former husband, Samuel P. Arnold; and two grandchildren, Klen Arnold and Oren McNulty.
