Kevin J. Sharkey, 67, a resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell passed away on Friday, Nov. 17th from cancer.
Kevin attended St.Stanislaus Elementary School and Lowell High School,Class of 1974. Following high school, he moved to Hawthorne,NJ and became a member of the Muchachos Drum and Bugle Corps where he formed life long friendships.
He was employed for 40 years at Specialty Materials (formerly Textron) of Lowell retiring in 2022.
Kevin was a New England sports fan as well as Notre Dame football, Indy 500, and the Masters golf tournament. He loved music - Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis and the Boston Symphony Orchestra where he spent many enjoyable evenings at Symphony Hall.
Kevin was a true Patriot, having great respect for all who served our country.
He married the love of his life, Judith Levesque of Montreal,Canada who predeceased him in 2019.
Also predeceased by his parents, James F. and Gladys(Gwiazda)Sharkey and best friend Teddy Siara,Jr.
He is survived by 5 siblings,
Stephen C.(Beatrice) of Riverside,RI, James F. Jr.(Diane) of Doylestown,PA,
Thomas J.(Suzanna) of Chatham,MA, Susan M. Dussault (Brian) of Lowell,MA, and Rosemarie Melanson(Peter),of Bennington, NH.
Kevin leaves his 2 aunts, Marie Sharkey and Gladys Sharkey O.S.F. both of New York State. He also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kevin was a mentor and close friend of Danny Voeun of Lowell. Our family is grateful to Danny for his kindness and care of our brother during his illness.
