Obituary


HOLLIS- Richard " Rich" Nichuals, age 54, passed away November 17, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born August 29, 1969, in the Bronx, New York. Rich moved from the Bronx to Maryland, and eventually to Maine where he resided for the last 40 years. He was the son of Patricia Higgins of Limerick, Maine, and the son of John J. Nichuals Sr. of Springhill, Florida. After high school Rich went on to work at many local retail establishments, and more recently at Libby and Son's U Picks in Limerick. Rich was well known and respected by many in the community. In 1990 Rich met the love of his life Barbara French, and they have resided in Hollis for the past 34 years. Rich loved family more than anything and was known as " Uncle Daddy" and " Papa Rich" to many of his nieces and grandkids. Although Rich never had any biological children of his own, he was an awesome step-dad to Barbara's three children and a father figure to many others. He loved his " littles" as he would call them. He looked forward to annual trips to Orange Lake, in Florida where he got to spend the week with the grandkids. Rich and Barb also enjoyed trips down to Daytona for the race's where they got to spend time with friends. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and 4 wheeling. He is predeceased by his Stepfather Ronald Higgins of Limerick, and Niece Kristen of Lebanon. Rich is survived by his partner of 34 years, Barbara French of Hollis; Step children- Amanda Dumais & Husband J.P. Dumais of Saco; Nicholas French and Tia Shaw of Sebago; Casey French and Heaven Bonneau of Hollis; Grandchildren- Abigail, Belle, Gracie, Bentley, and Rangeley; Mother Patricia Higgins of Limerick; Father John Nichuals Sr. and Stepmother Paula of Springhill Florida; Siblings- Sister; Deborah and Husband John Liberty of Corinna; Brother John Nichuals Jr. of Limerick; twin brother Joseph and wife Roxanne Nichuals of Somersworth; sister Elizabeth Nichuals, Sister Jennifer and Husband Bob Brennan of Greenville; Sister Marie Indelli of Limerick. Sister-in-Law; Mary Palmer of Portland; stepsister Allison Nichuals of Florida. Nieces; Amanda, Hannah, Melissa, Jennah, Kassandra, Natasha, Danielle, Ericha, Carrie Lynn, Elsie, Kourtney, Kaylee. Nephews; Ben, Bobby, Travis, Austin, Kris, and Stephen. Rich also has a large extended family and many friends who he loved dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held the first of the year. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
