Obituary

Elaine I. Evinson, 80, of Derry, NH, passed away Friday, November 17, 2023, in High Pointe Hospice, Haverhill, MA. She was born on March 26, 1943, in Lynn, MA, a daughter of Roy T. and Catherine I. (Collins) Essery.

Elaine had a loving childhood and always enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She attended English High School in Lynn, MA and graduated in the Class of 1960. She later attended Salem State University where she earned her Associate Degree in education. She was married to her ex-husband William Evinson for 20 years and they raised three children together. Elaine lived in Lynn, MA & Swampscott, MA until 1979. She then moved to Boynton Beach, FL until the mid 90’s. As grandkids were coming, she moved one final time to Derry, NH with her daughter in 1999 and became a second mother to her 2 grandchildren.

She had various jobs throughout her lifetime and they all would involve caring for others. Stay at home mother, swimming instructor at the Red Cross, cursive writing teacher, and a Title One Teacher - where she loved helping children to better their reading and writing skills, just to name a few. Elaine greatly enjoyed watching Soap Operas as well as making and eating delicious foods. She loved baking brownies and making goulash. She also lived for her snacks and candy. Elaine would always volunteer her services to ones in need and was the most loving, kind, caring, forgiving mother & nana. She will be remembered as “Happy Nana”.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Catherine Dubuc and her husband Christopher; two sons, Richard Evinson and Edward Evinson; six grandchildren, Justin Binette and his wife Rebecca, Constance McCarthy and her husband Tyler, Christian Evinson and his fiancé Janelle Walley, Lauren Graham and her husband Jeffrey, Abigail Dubuc, and Killian Evinson; two great-grandchildren, Kason McCarthy and Avery McCarthy; brother, Thomas Essery; sister, Barbara C. Pitcher; two nephews, Kevin Essery and Jeffery Essery; and her niece Samantha Essery.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday December 5, 2023, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 6:00pm.
