Obituary

McLaughlin, Anne M. Late of Medford, Massachusetts. Cherished wife of the late John “Jackie” McLaughlin of Charlestown and devoted mother of two sons, Steven and Scotty.

Born in Jamaica Plain in 1944, Anne was the only child of Louis “Louie” Chalifoux and Rose (Murphy) Chalifoux. Upon the death of her father when she was just 6 months old, Rose and Anne moved to 81 Walford Way in Charlestown, Massachusetts. At the age of 15, Anne met the love of her life, Jackie McLaughlin of Carney Court, Charlestown and on January 17th, 1965 the two exchanged wedding vows. By late 1968, Anne and Jack had two sons and started their life together at 27 Trenton Street.

Throughout her entire life, Anne was all about family. She devoted her life to her husband and two sons as that was what was most important to her. While her early years were spent as an only child being raised in a single parent household, Anne was now surrounded by the love of “The McLaughlin clan”. Words cannot express/describe the love Anne held in her heart for her new family. Jackie was the second youngest of 8 children so Anne now had the brothers and sisters and father figure she most likely longed for growing up. She gave her all to her family and those loving relationships remained in place up until the time of her passing. Simply stated, to know Anne was to love Anne.

Anne spent the majority of her working career at “The Phone Company”. She started off as a Telephone Operator but eventually took on different roles within the organization over the course of 30 years. She ended up retiring early in order to take care of her mother who had suddenly fallen ill. Around that same time, Jackie had been diagnosed with terminal cancer so Anne’s world was now focused on taking care of two of the most important people in her life and she did so with strength and the utmost of grace until both had succumbed to their respective illnesses.

Subsequent to the passing of her husband, Anne got back into the workforce and accepted a part-time position at Saltwater Sportsman Magazine in Boston, Massachusetts. She eventually met and had a 20 year loving relationship with William (Bill) Sainato of Somerville, Massachusetts. Anne and Bill eventually moved to Clearwater, Florida but eventually moved back to Massachusetts where Anne moved in with her son Scott until the time of her passing.

Anne will be sorely missed by so many but our anguish is assuaged knowing she has been reunited with her husband Jackie as well as all of the loved ones that passed on prior to her death. That’s going to be one heck of a reunion and this is where those that have been left behind are now finding solace.

Anne is survived by her sons Steven McLaughlin of Revere, Scott McLaughlin of Medford his partner Tina Ferreira of Charlestown, Niece Penny Grassia of Medford, God daughter Dr. Courtney (Grassia) Lawler of Maine, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews, their husbands and wives and their children.

Private service and Celebration of Life gathering for family members and close friends will take place at a date to be determined. Anne’s cremains will stay with her sons until they are ready to say their final goodbyes.
