E. Bridgewater - Irene E. (Thomas) Matthews, 67, of East Bridgewater died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Paul B. Matthews.
Born March 11, 1939, in Quincy, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Margaret (Shea) Thomas.
A homemaker, Mrs. Matthews had been a resident of E. Bridgewater for the past 41 years.
She was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1957.
Mrs. Matthews was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Bridgewater.
She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed puzzles.
In addition to her husband Paul, she is survived by her children, Paul B. Jr. of East Taunton, George W. of Milford, N.H., Theresa Connell of Bridgewater and Robin Meadows of Bridgewater; a sister, Joanne Preston of Laconia, N.H. Also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Her funeral will be held from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Monday at 8:15 am, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Bridgewater, at 9 am. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery, Rockland.
Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-8 pm.
