NEW BEDFORD — Catherine N. (Coyne) DeCosta, age 75 years, of New Bedford, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, unexpectedly at home. She was the widow of Charles DeCosta Sr.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Francis G. Coyne and Lillian (Weeks) Parkinson and lived in this community all of her life.
Mrs. DeCosta was employed as secretary for A-I Asphalt Co. for many years until retiring. She loved to travel, was an avid bingo player and loved to play slot machines. Most of all, she was a devoted Mother and Grandmother and loved to spend time with her family. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.
Survivors include three daughters Sheena K. Fonseca of NB, Susan E. Silva and her husband John J. Silva of NB and Cathy Froias of Westport, two sons Charles DeCosta Jr. of Worcester and Anthony R. DeCosta and his wife Mary Ellen of NB. She was the mother of the late Gilbert F. Garcia and sister of the late Harrison, Elizabeth and Ronald Coyne.
She is also survived by ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a special loving granddaughter Katy-Lyne DeCosta who resided with her.
Her funeral will take place on Friday, June 30, 2006, in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma. at 9 A.M. followed by burial in Rural Cemetery. Visitation 5-8 P.M. Thursday.
