Obituary




Worcester – Earl F. Brown, 89, of Worcester and formerly of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023 while in the UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after an illness.

Earl was married for 63 years to the late Olive T. (Daniel) Brown, who passed away in February 2022. He is survived by his son, Robert Brown and his wife, Alison of Sebastopol, CA; a sister, Shirley Johnson of Worcester; 3 grandchildren, Lauren Norgeot, Jacob Brown and Eboni Banks and many nieces and nephews.

Earl was born in Worcester, son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Stapleton) Brown and is also predeceased by two brothers, Albert “Sonny” Brown and Donald Brown and two sisters, Helen Cochrane and Ruth Riendeau.

Mr. Brown attended South High School and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy and upon being honorably discharged he continued to serve for another 26 years in the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

Earl worked his entire career as a truck driver retiring from Yellow Freight and previously working for Norman City Trucking.

He was a longtime member of North American Martyrs Church in Auburn. Earl always liked to go fishing and take day trips to the casino, but he was truly the happiest when he was traveling with his wife. He always looked forward to trips to visit with his son and family in California, going to Lake Tahoe or traveling throughout the northeast with his wife, especially to Lake George and Lake Champlain.

A funeral service with military honors will be held on Thursday, November 16 at 11:30 AM in Notre Dame Mausoleum 162 Webster Street Worcester. Memorial contributions in memory of Earl may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
