Oliver G. Loper, 77, of Brookfield passed away Sunday, May 29, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Edward Mimbs officiating. Mr. Loper was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Seth Dozier, Nicholas Loper, Phillip Price, Robby Weldon, Scott Burnum and Adam Hampton served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Allen Hoover, C.J. Cater, Darrell Bromlow, Wayne Blanchett, Stephen Curry and Stphen E. Curry.
Born February 12, 1928, in Long Island, New York, Mr. Loper was the son of the late Oliver B. Loper and Mary Gerard Loper. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Barbara G. Knight. Before retiring, he worked for Bell South and Tifton Aluminum Company. He was a member of Brookfield Baptist Church.
Mr. Loper is survived by his wife, Elise Burnum Loper of Brookfield; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Oliver B. and Margaret Loper of Tifton and James W. Loper of Brookfield; five grandchildren and their spouses, Alana and Adam Hampton, Nicholas Loper, Seth Dozier, Sharon and Robby Weldon and Michelle and Phillip Price; and one great-granddaughter, Shyra Loper.
