Bobby Brantley Lindsey, 75, of Tifton passed away Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2005, in the Sancturary of Tifton's First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. W. Ches Smith, III, the Rev. Paul Thomas and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mr. Lindsey was laid to rest at Leila United Methodist Church Cemetery in Omega (Colquitt County).
James Walker, Chris Goodman, Howard Dorsett, Scott Lindsey, Dr. Ray Evans and Wayne Purvis served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Camellia Garden Club of Tifton, Robert Register, Floyd Pennington, Buddy Gaskins, Rheudean Denby, Carl Duncan, Lennon Copeland, Ed Walker, Johnny Lindsey, Tom skinner, Warren Robinson, Rick Brown, Robert Ponder, Bill Conley, Donnie Hasty and Bob Lindsey.
Born October 13, 1929, in Cook County, Mr. Lindsey was the son of the late Shelton G. Lindsey and Nancy Baker Lindsey. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
The retired president of Dixie Oil Company in Tifton, Lindsey was a member of the Georgia Oilman Association. He was named "Oilman of the Year" in 1987. He served on the Board of Directors for Citizens Bank of Tifton for 30 years; he was a member of the Board of American Bank Holding Company in Moultre; he was Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Tifton Airport Authority; he was a member of the Board of Directors for the ABAC Foundation; and he was the current Driector of the Bank of Lenox in Lenox. He was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church.
Mr. Lindsey is survived by his wife, Jo Edith Rutland Lindsey of Tifton; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bobby Joe Lindsey of Macon and John Allen and Tina Lindsey of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Al Kent of Tifton; one brother, John D. Lindsey, two sisters, Martha Mathis and Lillian Purvis, both of Tifton
