Obituary

Salvatore Paul "Sonny" Marashio, 95, of New Bedford died November 6, 2023 at home.
He was the husband of late Lucille L. (Bachand) Marashio and the late Lorraine T. (Medeiros) Marshall Marashio.
Born and raised in Lexington, the son of the late Paul and Lena (Mercadante) Marashio, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Marashio served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in New Bedford.
Mr. Marashio was the co-founder and retired proprietor of Stan & Paul's. He was very proud to continue his family business with his children.
He enjoyed travel, golf and going to the casino.
Survivors include his 2 sons, Richard Marashio and his wife Ann of Fall River and Paul Marashio and his wife Jacqueline of Fairhaven; a daughter, Lynne Schaefer and her husband Stephen of Plymouth; 2 step-sons, Philip Marshall and David Marshall; his sister-in-law, Jacqueline Hurley and her husband Daniel of Beverly; 4 sisters, Angie Kenealy, Jean Tracey, Nancy Andersen and Linda Marashio; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Betty Napolitano, Mary Ann Gelormini and Pauline Anderson.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 27th at 10 AM in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 26th from 1-4 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford.
