Jim Monroe Harrell, 79, of Sylvester passed away Monday, February 14, 2005, at Phoebe-Worth Medical Center in Sylvester. His funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2005, at Bethel Bible Tabernacle in Sylvester with the Rev. Bob Nipper officiating. Mr. Harrell was laid to rest at Sumner Cemetery.
Bobby Cooper, Roy Cooper, Danny Cooper, Ray Cooper, Joe Cooper and Tom Cooper served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Andy Thompson, Jerry Macri, Glenn Ford, David Ford, William Harrell, Bob Harrell and Buddy Carter.
Born September 13, 1925, in Tift County, Mr. Harrell was the son of the late John Doss Harrell and Johnnie Elberta Hill Harrell. He was also preceded in death by one son, Donnie Harrel; one grandson; three brothers; and one sister. He was a retired mechanic and auctioneer; and he was a member of Bethel Bible Tabernacle in Sylvester.
Mr. Harrel is survived by his wife, Elma Ruth Ford Harrell of Sylvester; two sons and one daughter-in-law, James "Skeeter" and Elzee Lee Harrell of Sumner and Roger Winford Harrell of Sylvester; five daughters, Sara Herrell Tillery of Sylvester, Ilene Westbrook of Sumner, Ruth Lloyd of Carrollton, Martha Harrell of Douglas and Jackie Childers of Poulan; one brother, Bill Harrell of Moultrie; 16 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
