Michael G. McKenna, 56, of Southwater Street, East Windsor, CT, beloved husband of 25 years to Elizabeth M. McKenna, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 27, 2006 after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Lester, England he was the son of the late Joseph and Kathleen McKenna. Michael was employed at Connecticut Transit as a diesel technician for almost 30 years. He also served as a Union Representative for Amalgamated Transit Union.
He served as president of Ancient Order of Hibernians for New Britain and Glastonbury, and was an avid New York Yankees Fan. Together, with his wife, he raised exotic birds.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Joseph McKenna of Vernon, Ct and Kevin McKenna of Norfolk, Va; a sister, Marie Lester of Oakdale, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Shaun McKenna and a sister, Eileen Holmes.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 5-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, E. Main Street, Mystic on Saturday at 10am. Private burial of his urn will be at a later date at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.
