Manning Eston Griner, 90, of Tifton passed away Monday, June 6, 2005, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2005, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Calvin Bobo officiating.
Mr. Griner's grandsons, Mitch Britt, Tim Griner, David Griner, Neal Newsome, Brian Bougeois and Darrell Ake served as pallbearers.
Born July 8, 1914, in Berrien County, Mr. Griner was the son of the late Samuel Franklin Griner and Jane McMillan Griner. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Young Griner, who passed away in 2000; and three sisters. Before retiring, he was foreman of the Peanut Department at the Coastal Plains Experiment Station in Tifton; and he was a member of Turner Primitive Baptist Church in Enigma.
Mr. Griner is survived by two sons, Charles "Sonny" Griner of Leesburg and James Everett Griner of Moultrie; seven grandchildren, Kathy Ake, Tim Griner, Angie Newsome, David Griner, Amy Griner, Mitch Britt and Julie Wise; and ten great-grandchildren, Jeanifer Griner, Wesley Griner, Carley Ake, Brandon Ake, Trey Newsome, Cameron Newsome, Trent Griner, Bryce Britt, Neau Britt and Matthew Wise.
