Margaret "Maggie" Goodman Dunn, 57, of Omega passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2005, in Omega. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2005, at Omega Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Morris and the Rev. Walter Powell officiating. Mrs. Dunn was laid to rest at Omega Cemetery.
Chris Goodman, Russ Goodman, Mike Harris, Nath Harris, Will Harris, Tom Harris, John Waddell and Dusty Dunn served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were members of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States.
Born October 30, 1947, in Tift County, Mrs. Dunn was the daughter of the late Marvin Albert Goodman, Sr. and Hilda Coarsey Goodman. She was a member of Omega Methodist Church.
Mrs. Dunn began her career as a rural carrier in Omega, was promoted to the position of Ellenton postmaster in October 1986 and later promoted to postmaster in her hometown of Omega. She was an active member of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States. She held several state positions including President of NAPUS for the state of Georgia in 2002. She was voted Facilitator of the Year for 2003 and 2004. Maggie considered her postmaster friends as an extended family which she dearly loved. "Nana" loved and was loved very much by her eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Dunn is survived by her husband, Larry Dunn of Omega; two sons and daughters-in-law Jim and Patty Dunn and Walt and Rachel Dunn, all of Omega; one daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Howard Layton; one sister, Gail Goodman Harris of Turin; and eight grandchildren, Sarah Dunn, Conor Dunn, Sam Dunn, Caroline Dunn, Glenn Dunn, Owen Dunn, Lindsey Layton and Cora Lee Layton.
