Lennon E. "Bud" Bowen, Jr., 82, of Darien, formerly of Tifton, passed died Sunday, January 2, 2005, at Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick Campus. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at the First Baptist Church of Darien with the Rev. Dr. Michael Warren officiating. Mr. Bowen was laid to rest at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton.
Born on Washington's birthday in 1922, he was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Bowen was a textile man, a hotelier and a builder, having completed construction of a new home designed to last for centuries. He was a member the First Baptist Church of Darien.
Mr. Bowen is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Ann Bowen of Darien; two sons, Chris C. Bowen and L. E. Bowen, III, both of Eustis, Florida; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
