Jean Carolyn Stroud Lott, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Magnolia Place in Ocilla, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, October 27, 2023, at Holt Baptist Church with Bro. Joey Veal officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the church.
Ms. Lott was born October 3, 1935, in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late George Kermit & Rosa Walker Stroud. She graduated from Ben Hill-Irwin Tech and was runner-up in the GOAL program. She worked in accounting and bookkeeping for Irwin County Hospital and Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home. She also worked for H.R. Kaminsky & Sons. She loved gardening and will be remembered for baking biscuits and Christmas cookies. Ms. Lott enjoyed listening to gospel music and singing with the Bernhardt Singers. She also enjoyed travel to the mountains. She was a longtime member of Holt Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons: Glen & Patsy Lott of Holt, Jeff Lott of Ocilla, and Tim & Karen Lott of Abbeville; grandchildren: Tracie Childers & Kevin, Robin Brinson & Seth, Melanie Wood & James, Chad Courson & Jessica, Tye Courson & Emily, Jennifer Wyles & Eric, Clay Lott, Blake Lott & Aubree, Megan Lott, Ryan Lott, Mason Lott, Brooke Tank & Tripp, and Kason Lott & Casey; great-grandchildren: Heather Russell & Austin, Seth Childers & Halee, Lottie Wood, Swede Courson, Finley Courson, Davis Courson, Ian Wyles, Dane Wyles, Ryker Lott, Huxley Lott, Hogan Lott, Dawson Lott, Arlie Grace Lott, Declan Tank, Everett Tank, Wade Tank, Meredith Tank, Kinley Lott, and Kelsey Lott; great-great-grandchildren: Westlyn Edge, Wyatt Russell, Mason Childers, and Stetson Johnson, sister-in-law Barbara Stroud of Ashburn and a niece, Ginny Shelton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Danford; a son, Mark Lott; a great-grandson, Russ Thacker; a great-great-grandson, Weston Edge; and a brother, Julian “Dick” Stroud.
