Albert F. Smith III (Buddy) of New Bedford, MA passed away suddenly on October 16, 2023. He was 65 years old. Born in South Boston, he was the cherished son of the late Albert F. Jr, and Marie Ann (Jordan) Smith. Buddy was the dear brother of Donna Marie Smith of Salem, MA, Marybeth Gioia and her former husband Peter of Boynton Beach, FL and Bradley Stephen Smith and his wife Mary Ellen of Waltham, MA. He is also survived by five nieces, one nephew, two great nieces, one great nephew and many cousins.
Buddy was an avid Boston sports fan. He enjoyed watching Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins games on TV. He also loved learning about American and World history from the History Channel and from YouTube videos. He proudly shared photos of his family on Facebook, especially his nieces, nephew and great nieces and nephew. Throughout his challenging life he managed to stay humble, always helping those in need. Amongst his many accomplishments, he will be remembered fondly for taking care of his friend Eddie and being a surrogate dad to Jesse.
